ABOUT RAN

The Researching Africa Network (North East) acts as a regional hub for scholarship on Africa. Launched in 2018, the Network brings together scholars from Durham, Newcastle and Northumbria Universities. Our members include researchers working across the spectrum of African Studies; scholars from other disciplines who carry out research in African contexts; and a large number of students attending Universities in the region who are either from Africa, doing research in Africa, or both.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • To provide opportunities for debate, discussion and the development of cutting-edge scholarship on topics relating to Africa.
  • To offer a forum for different disciplines to learn from each other and from African Studies.
  • To encourage new networks of partnership and solidarity among academics and with those whom they collaborate. Read more
