OUR SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• To provide a forum for regular research activities on issues relating to Africa, including lectures, workshops and other events.
• To raise the profile of African Studies in the North East of England.
• To engage in long-term capacity building and the development of collaborative relations, particularly with scholars based in Africa.
• To provide opportunities for building relationships that may lead to future research collaborations.
• To help develop links between academics and policy makers.
• To support graduate students:
  • by providing opportunities to meet other students with an interest in Africa
  • by supporting graduate training through graduate workshops, masterclasses and other events
  • by developing institutional capacity in African Studies so that we can attract more graduate students working in the region.
• To maintain an up-to-date profile for the Network, including through a website and a mailing list to disseminate information to our members.
