- To raise the profile of African Studies in the North East of England.
- To engage in long-term capacity building and the development of collaborative relations, particularly with scholars based in Africa.
- To provide opportunities for building relationships that may lead to future research collaborations.
- To help develop links between academics and policy makers.
- To support graduate students:
- by providing opportunities to meet other students with an interest in Africa
- by supporting graduate training through graduate workshops, masterclasses and other events
- by developing institutional capacity in African Studies so that we can attract more graduate students working in the region.
- To maintain an up-to-date profile for the Network, including through a website and a mailing list to disseminate information to our members.
The Researching Africa Network is organised by Hannah Brown (Durham University) and Laura Routley (University of Newcastle).
